This article covers the SOPlayer subscription (a.k.a. SO Player) and dives further into how it works, introduces similar IPTV players, creating a new account/sign-up registration, fake SO Play websites, free trial & code, costs, including other important information. Then it points to two recommended top Streaming Services to watch TV online via the SOPlay application.
How Does SO Player Work?
There is no SO Player website or rather a developer website that developed the application. The closest thing to it is what’s at the Google Play Store. But some websites use the SO Player name that is fake. More on this later. As we move forward, understand when talking about SOPlayer we are also talking about the two alternative players as well.
When installed on a compatible device and activated via subscription, the user will have access to all the streaming live channels and VODs that come from the streaming TV/VOD service. No media player can deliver any streaming content all by itself. There are categories and sub-categories inside the player where the user can easily find live channels or VOD movies/TV series to select, and play whatever is of interest.
What Is It?
SO Player is a free middleware app that anyone worldwide can download to any compatible device. It can be found in the Google Play Store and internal app stores of some compatible streaming devices. More on this later. The TV player is designed for users to stream live channels and VOD content.
It has the technology to manage, control, and organize the streaming content that comes from the IPTV service. Never mistake this IPTV player or any media player for an IPTV service. Once SOPlayer is installed on the compatible device, it must be activated by the streaming service which will be provided later on. No streaming content can be delivered until activation.
Looking for a More Robust Streaming TV/VOD Service?
If you are looking for a streaming TV/VOD with more live channels, VODs, countries, features, benefits, and more compatible devices that also include VOD bonuses, consider CrackPop TV. We deliver and give you more starting at $16.00 per month. Read the Review Here.
IP Lock System
Before we go further into the SOPlayer subscription, and SO Player new account, including other information, it’s important to understand the limitations. When activating the TV player installed on the device connected to the streaming service servers, that user’s IP address gets locked in. What this means is the IP address provided by the Internet Service Provider and where the modem/router is stationed in the home cannot change.
To further explain, the user cannot take his/her portable device, such as a laptop with SO Player installed to another household. The other household with Internet service has a different IP address. This means that a VPN service cannot be used. However, nothing is stopping the user from using a smartphone connected to any WiFi area to watch TV online.
Where to download it?
The SOPlayer subscription should come last. Some individuals pay or enter into the free trial before downloading and installing TV Player on their compatible devices. The download should come first so the user can check and see if an issue occurs before the SO Player payment or trial.
This popular IPTV player can be found in the Google Play Store as well as the other two players that will be introduced. However, SOPlay was removed from the Apple Play Store in 2023. This means the player can no longer be downloaded to iOS/Apple devices. If this happens to be the device you want to use, don’t worry. The ideal streaming service that will be recommended supports 3 players including SOPlay. The other two are very similar players and compatible with iOS/Apple devices. More on this later.
SO Player can be found in the internal or built-in app store for some compatible devices. As for Android devices and devices with the Android operating system, the TV player must be sideloaded. This requires more steps including installing another app and enabling a parameter in the device’s Settings.
Are there Similar TV/VOD Media Players?
There are two very similar apps shown in the Compatible Devices section below. The recommended streaming service supports Nora GO, XPlay, and SO Player. All use the same type of technology, function the same way, very user-friendly interface, and similar design layout inside.
When you get the SO Player subscription/SO Player account, you also get app/apk URLs and shortcodes for the supported players XPlay and Nora GO.
Compatible Devices
Before getting the SO Player new account, one must know what are the compatible streaming devices. Since there are 3 TV players supported by the same streaming service being recommended, all three are covered below…
- iOS/Apple Devices (iPad, iPhone, Apple TV): XPlay; Nora GO media players
- Computers (Windows & Mac OS): Nora GO; SO Player(?) ***may need to install Bluestacks app
- Samsung Smart TV: SO Player; Nora GO (best); XPlay
- LG Smart TV: Nora GO (best); SO Player; XPlay
- Sony Smart TV(?)
- Android Devices (TV, Box, SmartPhone, Tablet): SO Player; XPlay; Nora GO
- Devices w/ Android OS (Fire Stick, Fire TV, Fire Cube, NVIDIA Shield): XPlay; Must be sideloaded… SO Player & Nora GO
- Roku: XPlay (recommended); Nora GO (not working)
Is SO Player Subscription Worth It?
The subscription is packed full of live TV channels and VODs to watch movies, shows, news, sports, and so on. There are US local/regional, Spanish, French, UK, and CA channels. Maybe Australia channels. Also, included are the VOD TV series and movies. There’s something about the entire family.
However, each individual’s needs are different and IPTV services may not be for everyone. The best thing to do is enter into the free trial and test. See what the available content is and play whatever is of interest. If any of your favorites are there and working, then this will tell whether or not the SO Player subscription is worth it.
Here’s what to do:
- Download/install SOPlay on any compatible streaming device. Test to see if it installs without an issue
- Register for the SO Player free trial to test
- Register for the subscription and get the SO Player new account
SO Player New Account
The SO Player account will be created during registration for the free trial or subscription. The SO Player sign-up requires you to enter personal information which includes a working email address. Enter the wrong email and no emails from the streaming service will come your way.
Usually during sign up (registration) and SO Player payment, the user is sent directly to the account page. This will have the activation/login credential which is also sent to the user via email.
There’s usually a ‘My Account’ link in the Menu section on the streaming TV/VOD website. This is where the trial/subscription user can log in to get access to his/her account, order, and invoice information including the activation/login credentials. For the SO Player renewal payment, it’s best to log in so that the subscribers’s account is connected with the purchase. But keep in mind this will be the same for the other alternative SO Player applications (XPlay and Nora GO).
Fake SO Player Websites
Beware as there are some fake websites out there using the SO Player name. This is done to gain the attention of individuals searching for this player for whatever reason. These sites trick individuals into buying whereas they support a different TV player using a different streaming service. One of those websites appears to have closed down.
For example… Here is one site (https://www.soplayeronline.com/) when clicking one of the 3 subscription plans it redirects the site visitor to this page… https://genplayhome.com/products/soplayer-1-month. This appears as if you’re getting the SOPlayer subscription which includes the SOPlay icon image. But Genplay is the name of the TV Player. In other words, the site visitor doesn’t know what s/he is getting because it’s not clearly stated.
Anytime a website redirects you to a different website page, watch out. The two streaming services with full websites recommended further down make everything crystal clear. You see what players are supported and there’s no redirecting you to any page on another website. You think you are getting SO Player but you get GenPlay instead.
SO Player Subscription Free Trial Code
The choice is yours to sign up and get the SO Player free trial or subscription. However, if new to these services it would be in your interest to enter into the trial to test first. As for the subscription free trial code, it’s not clear what exactly this is. One of the recommended streaming services offers a discount code for the subscription. But nothing else appears to show there’s some other code.
It’s not clear why anyone is looking for a free trial code when the trial itself is free whereas no code is needed. Perhaps these individuals are referring to the activation/login credentials that include the Device PIN Codes. You get them free in the trial.
The sequence to watch TV online using the streaming service is: Install the app, get the free trial to test, then make the SO Player payment to watch live channels and VODs.
Registering for SO Player Free Trial
No credit or debit card is needed when registering for the free trial. The cost is $0.00 to test everything but PPV events may not be included when the big fights/special events are broadcast. The SOPlayer sign up is straightforward. The trial length can be 24 hours or 3 days.
Registering for Subscription
This requires a payment using a credit/debit card or PayPal if available. The SO Player subscription price can range from $24.00-$$30.00 for a 1-month plan, and $74.99-$80.00 for a 3-month plan.
Whether it’s the trial or subscription, expect to receive a few emails immediately after the new SO Player account payment. Always check inside the Spam or Junk mail folder for any emails from the streaming service.
Subscription Cancellation
Before paying for the SOPlayer subscription, you should read the Refund Policy. The link is usually at the footer (bottom) section of the streaming service website. Read it entirely to know how many days the money-back guarantee covers. Also, read the conditions very closely.

SO Player Account Renewal: Online, Phone Number
This section addresses SOPlayer subscribers who lost their way and newcomers trying to find more information. If you are a subscriber trying to get the SO Player renewal but don’t know where to go, there’s only one thing to do. Find the emails the streaming service sent you when you first made the SO Player payment. This is where your SO Player account is located. Going to other websites isn’t going to help.
If you find the email, the name of the streaming service will be known. To renew, enter the SO Player website login details provided in the email. Or, if you know the username but forgot the password, click the link to renew your password. This is how to Renew the SO Player subscription when going to the streaming service website where your account is located.
Let this be a lesson learned and one that newcomers need to pay attention to avoid traveling down this road. Many SOPlay users search online asking the question, ‘How do I pay for my SOPlayer account?’ Again, find those emails. If this gets you nowhere, then it’s time to start over and find another streaming service. There are two being recommended further down.
Additional SO Player Information
Some of the key features found inside the SOPlayer include the following:
- EPG (Electronic Programming Guide): A programmable TV guide with many EPG categories of live channels. Selecting a category will load the TV guide with only those channels. For instance, select the English category and those channels will load the TV guide. You can do the same thing for any EPG category including sports.
- Search Tools: Allows searching for a city, channel, or VOD title
- Add to Favorites: Usually, only VOD movies/TV series can be added. Both live channels and VODs added to favorites are a bonus.
- Recently Watched Technology: Tracks what you watched previously to quickly find and play again.
Recommended SO Player IPTV Services
Decide on which of the two streaming TV/VOD services to use to watch your favorite live channels and VODs online. What’s unique about both of them is each service supports SO Player, XPlay, and Nora GO. You can download and install more than one player to the same device if applicable to test.
The 3 players provide more device compatibility which you can check in the ‘Compatible Devices’ section further up.
